H. Upmann Cigars: Blends, Tobacco and Vitolas

The modern H. Upmann portfolio includes cigars produced in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua with substantially different tobacco compositions. Wrapper selections include Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade, Ecuadorian Habano, Ecuadorian Sumatra, Cameroon, Brazilian Mata Fina, and Nicaraguan tobaccos depending on the individual blend.

These differences make blend and tobacco origin especially useful when comparing H. Upmann cigars. The 1844 Classic uses a Connecticut Shade wrapper, 1844 Reserve moves to Ecuadorian Habano, Vintage Cameroon is distinguished by its Cameroon wrapper, and Nicaragua Heritage by AJ Fernandez uses Brazilian Mata Fina over Nicaraguan tobaccos.

Popular H. Upmann Cigar Blends

H. Upmann 1844 Classic

H. Upmann 1844 Classic represents the Connecticut-wrapped side of the portfolio. Produced in Honduras, the blend uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper and is offered in familiar formats including Robusto, Toro, and Churchill. Its wrapper and medium strength separate it from the darker and richer tobacco combinations found elsewhere in the H. Upmann lineup.

H. Upmann 1844 Reserve

H. Upmann 1844 Reserve takes a different approach from 1844 Classic with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and Dominican production. Current selections include Corona and smaller Demitasse formats. Comparing 1844 Reserve with 1844 Classic provides a direct example of how wrapper style and country of production vary within the broader 1844 family.

H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez

H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez brings the historic brand into a distinctly Nicaraguan context. Produced in Nicaragua, the blend uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and falls into the medium-to-full strength range. Current Cigars N Cigars inventory includes the 6 x 54 Toro, providing a larger-ring format within the AJ Fernandez side of the H. Upmann portfolio.

H. Upmann Nicaragua Heritage by AJ Fernandez

Nicaragua Heritage by AJ Fernandez is a medium-to-full-bodied Nicaraguan-made blend distinguished by its Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper. The wrapper is triple fermented and the cigars receive additional aging after rolling. Current selections include Robusto and Churchill formats, giving smokers different dimensions for experiencing the same core blend.

H. Upmann The Banker

The Banker occupies the Dominican-made side of the modern H. Upmann portfolio. Current Cigars N Cigars selections include the large Arbitrage Churchill and Ingot Arbitrage Double Corona, both using Ecuadorian Habano wrappers. Their larger dimensions distinguish them from many of the Robusto and Toro formats found elsewhere in the H. Upmann catalog.

H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon

H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon is distinguished primarily by its Cameroon wrapper, giving the line a separate tobacco identity from the Connecticut-, Habano-, Sumatra-, and Mata Fina-wrapped cigars elsewhere in the portfolio. Current inventory includes the smaller Petite Corona format for smokers comparing traditional H. Upmann blends in a slimmer vitola.

H. Upmann Hispaniola by José Méndez

Hispaniola by José Méndez is produced in the Dominican Republic and uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Current inventory includes a 5 1/2 x 52 Robusto in the medium-to-full strength range. Its Dominican production and Sumatra wrapper provide another point of comparison with both the 1844 series and the Nicaraguan AJ Fernandez collaborations.

H. Upmann 1844 Classic vs. 1844 Reserve vs. Nicaragua Heritage

H. Upmann 1844 Classic, 1844 Reserve, and Nicaragua Heritage illustrate the range of tobacco styles available under the H. Upmann name. Classic uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper and is produced in Honduras. Reserve uses Ecuadorian Habano and is produced in the Dominican Republic, while Nicaragua Heritage is made in Nicaragua and distinguished by its Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper. Wrapper and tobacco origin therefore provide useful starting points when choosing among the three.

H. Upmann Robusto, Toro, Churchill and Other Vitolas

H. Upmann cigars are available across Robusto, Toro, Corona, Churchill, Double Corona, Petite Corona, and smaller formats depending on the blend. Comparing vitolas within the same cigar family changes the dimensions while preserving the relationship to the core blend, while comparing separate H. Upmann families requires considering wrapper, tobacco composition, country of production, and strength.
