Cuba Aliados
Cuba Aliados cigars carry forward the brand established by Cuban cigar maker Rolando Reyes Sr. The current portfolio includes two distinct interpretations: the Honduran-puro Original Blend produced with the Eiroa family and Cuba Aliados by E.P. Carrillo, handmade in the Dominican Republic with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper.
Shop Cuba Aliados cigars at Cigars N Cigars in Robusto, Toro, Torpedo, Churchill, and ReGordo sizes. Compare the all-Honduran Original Blend with the Ecuadorian Sumatra-wrapped E.P. Carrillo blend across matching premium cigar formats.
Cuba Aliados Cigars: The Rolando Reyes Legacy
Cuba Aliados was established by Rolando Reyes Sr., a Cuban cigar maker whose career included cigar production in Cuba, Miami, the Dominican Republic, and Honduras. Reyes eventually became closely associated with cigar making in Danlí, Honduras, where Cuba Aliados developed its identity as a premium Honduran cigar brand.
The modern Cuba Aliados portfolio revisits that history through two different blends. Original Blend is a Honduran puro produced with the Eiroa family, while Cuba Aliados by E.P. Carrillo is a Dominican-made cigar developed with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. The two collections share the Cuba Aliados name but differ substantially in tobacco composition and country of manufacture.
Cuba Aliados Cigar Blends
Cuba Aliados Original Blend
Cuba Aliados Original Blend is a Honduran puro, meaning its wrapper, binder, and filler tobaccos are all grown in Honduras. Produced with the Eiroa family, the blend is medium in strength and represents the Honduran side of the revived Cuba Aliados portfolio.
Cuba Aliados by E.P. Carrillo
Cuba Aliados by E.P. Carrillo is a separate blend developed with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and handmade at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic. It uses an aged Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder with filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.
Cuba Aliados Original Blend vs. E.P. Carrillo
The two current Cuba Aliados blends differ most clearly by tobacco origin and construction. Original Blend is made in Honduras entirely from Honduran tobacco. The E.P. Carrillo version is made in the Dominican Republic with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. This makes them two distinct interpretations of the Cuba Aliados name rather than different sizes of the same blend.
Cuba Aliados and the Eiroa Family
The Eiroa family's involvement with Cuba Aliados reflects an earlier connection to Rolando Reyes Sr. After establishing cigar production in Honduras, Reyes sourced tobacco through Julio R. Eiroa. The modern Original Blend returns to that relationship by using Honduran tobacco and production associated with the Eiroa family.
Cuba Aliados and E.P. Carrillo
Ernesto Perez-Carrillo also has a historical connection to Rolando Reyes. Their paths crossed during Reyes' years producing cigars in Miami. The modern Cuba Aliados by E.P. Carrillo blend reconnects those names through a Dominican-made cigar produced at Perez-Carrillo's Tabacalera La Alianza factory.
Cuba Aliados Robusto and Toro
Robusto and Toro sizes provide particularly useful comparisons between the two Cuba Aliados blends. Both collections are available in a 5 x 50 Robusto and 6 x 52 Toro, allowing the Honduran Original Blend and E.P. Carrillo blend to be compared in equivalent dimensions without changing the basic cigar size.
Cuba Aliados Torpedo, Churchill and ReGordo
Cigars N Cigars also carries both Cuba Aliados blends in larger and shaped formats. The 6 x 54 Torpedo provides a tapered head, the 7 x 50 Churchill extends the smoking format while retaining a traditional ring gauge, and the 6 x 60 ReGordo provides the largest ring gauge in the current selection.
Who Was Rolando Reyes Sr.?
Rolando Reyes Sr. was a Cuban cigar maker whose career began before the Cuban Revolution. After leaving Cuba, he continued working in the cigar industry in the United States and eventually established production in Honduras. Cuba Aliados became one of the cigar brands most closely associated with the Reyes family's work.
Choosing a Cuba Aliados Cigar
Start with the blend. Choose Original Blend for an all-Honduran tobacco composition or Cuba Aliados by E.P. Carrillo for an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. Both collections are available in comparable Robusto, Toro, Torpedo, Churchill, and ReGordo formats, making wrapper and tobacco origin the primary differences to consider.
