Oliva Cigars: Blends, Tobacco and Vitolas

Oliva's cigar portfolio is centered on Nicaraguan tobacco, with wrapper selection and blend composition separating its major lines. Serie V emphasizes Nicaraguan ligero beneath a Sun Grown wrapper, Serie V Melanio takes the blend in a different direction, Serie G is distinguished by African Cameroon wrapper, and Serie O focuses on Habano tobacco. Connecticut Reserve combines an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler.

Across these blends, Oliva produces a wide range of traditional and shaped vitolas, including Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Lancero, Torpedo, Figurado, Perfecto and larger ring-gauge formats. Maduro versions of several lines provide additional comparisons through darker wrapper tobaccos and different blend compositions.

Popular Oliva Cigar Blends

Oliva Serie V

Oliva Serie V uses Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos with specially fermented ligero from Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley. The blend is finished with a high-priming Habano Sun Grown wrapper and sits toward the fuller end of the Oliva portfolio.

Serie V is produced in formats ranging from the narrow 7 x 38 Lancero and 5 x 43 No. 4 to larger Robusto, Torpedo and Double Toro sizes. The differences in length and ring gauge change the proportions of wrapper and filler while retaining the core Serie V blend.

Oliva Serie V Melanio

Serie V Melanio is a distinct blend within the Serie V family, combining an Ecuadorian wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, including fermented ligero. The line is produced in Petit Corona, Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Double Toro, Torpedo and Figurado formats.

Serie V Melanio differs from the original Serie V in both wrapper and blend composition rather than simply offering another set of sizes. Comparing the two lines provides a useful example of how Oliva varies tobacco selection within its stronger Nicaraguan blends.

Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro

Serie V Melanio Maduro pairs Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos with a Mexican Maduro wrapper from the San Andrés Valley. The wrapper is the clearest technical distinction from the standard Serie V Melanio.

Melanio Maduro is produced in several of the same familiar formats as the standard line, including Petit Corona, Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Double Toro and Torpedo sizes. This allows direct comparisons between the standard and Maduro versions without necessarily changing vitola.

Oliva Serie G

Oliva Serie G combines an African Cameroon wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The Cameroon wrapper is the defining component of the blend and separates Serie G from the Sun Grown character of Serie V, the Habano-focused Serie O and the Ecuadorian Connecticut-wrapped Connecticut Reserve.

The Serie G line includes conventional parejo sizes as well as shaped cigars, with Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Belicoso, Torpedo, Figurado and compact Special G formats represented across the series.

Oliva Serie G Maduro

Serie G Maduro is a separate expression of the Serie G line. Its darker wrapper and different tobacco composition distinguish it from the African Cameroon-wrapped standard Serie G.

The two Serie G blends therefore provide a useful comparison within the Oliva portfolio: the standard line emphasizes Cameroon wrapper tobacco, while Serie G Maduro shifts the blend toward a darker Maduro wrapper profile.

Oliva Serie O

Oliva Serie O is built around Habano tobacco associated with Nicaragua's Estelí, Condega and Jalapa growing regions. Its tobacco composition gives Serie O a distinct position between the Cameroon-wrapped Serie G and the ligero-focused Serie V family.

Serie O is produced in a broad range of sizes, including No. 4, Robusto, Corona, Toro, Torpedo, Churchill and Double Toro formats, along with Perfecto and Tubo presentations. These sizes provide substantial variation in length, ring gauge and cigar shape while retaining the Serie O blend identity.

Oliva Serie V Maduro

Oliva Serie V Maduro provides a darker-wrapper alternative to the standard Serie V while retaining the line's Nicaraguan-centered character. The Maduro wrapper distinguishes it from the Habano Sun Grown wrapper used on the original Serie V.

Serie V Maduro is produced in several larger formats, including Double Robusto, Toro, Torpedo and Double Toro sizes. These vitolas allow the Maduro blend to be compared across different lengths and ring gauges.

Oliva Connecticut Reserve

Oliva Connecticut Reserve uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and long-filler tobaccos. This combination distinguishes Connecticut Reserve from the darker wrappers and stronger Nicaraguan-focused blends found elsewhere in the Oliva portfolio.

The line is produced in a broad range of sizes, including Petit Corona, Robusto, Toro, Lonsdale, Torpedo, Churchill and Double Toro. Tubo presentations are also available in selected sizes.

Oliva Master Blends 3

Master Blends 3 occupies a separate position from Oliva's core Serie O, Serie G and Serie V families. The line is built around Nicaraguan tobaccos and a darker wrapper, with the blend offered in a more focused selection of traditional vitolas.

Robusto, Double Robusto, Torpedo and Churchill formats provide different dimensions within the Master Blends 3 line without the extensive size range found in some of Oliva's larger cigar families.

Flor de Oliva

Flor de Oliva extends Oliva's Nicaraguan portfolio beyond the Serie V, Serie G and Serie O families. The line uses Nicaraguan tobaccos and is produced in traditional formats including Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Lonsdale, Torpedo and Presidente.

Its range of conventional parejo sizes makes Flor de Oliva another useful part of the portfolio for comparing how length and ring gauge change the proportions of a cigar while remaining within the same line.
