Viaje Cigars- What's the hype?

Posted by Cigar Tom on 3rd Oct 2024

Viaje Cigars are not always easy to find when you're on the hunt for a premium cigar. Therefore, it always feels like more of an experience as opposed to a smoke to me but If you’ve been around the cigar community long enough, you’ve probably heard Viaje Cigars thrown around more than a few times. What I’d really like to do is share what the hype really is behind the brand. But first, here are the facts behind these premium tobacco cigars…

What cigar enthusiast will tell you

Viaje Cigars are always setting high standards for craftsmanship with their premium tobacco cigars. And I'm sure from what you've heard, the Skull and Bones series offers a fair balance of spice and sweetness that leaves cigar lovers craving more. Seriously! Talk to any serious cigar enthusiast like myself and they'll tell you—Viaje cigars are like the unicorns of the cigar world—hard to find, and everyone wants to get their hands on one. Viaje is where the magic happens. Everyone’s got their favorite release.

If you want to discover a decent variety of flavors and brands, purchasing cigars online is a convenient way to expand your collection and get a feel for a variety of different brands.Viaje is a relatively young, boutique brand, founded in 2007 by Andre Farkas and started gaining traction pretty rapidly for staying true to its small-batch roots and the brand's commitment to quality in premium tobacco cigars. I've been smoking premium cigars for a long time, and I can tell you—Viaje has a certain character that just resonates with me. It’s not about flashy marketing or trying to be the biggest premium cigar name in the humidor. They take their time with their blends, releasing small batches that remind me of how hand rolled cigars used to be made—with care, precision, and a focus on quality over quantity!

My Smoke Setup

What keeps me loyal to buying my Viaje cigars online is the craftsmanship. I’m not chasing after the latest trends or trying to impress anyone. When I sit down with a Viaje, I know I’m getting a premium cigar that’s been crafted for people who appreciate the art of a good smoke. Plus, let’s be honest, finding a Viaje isn’t always easy, and that makes it feel like I’m part of something special when I find that specific cigar online. When you know, you know—Viaje just gets it right.

All handmade cigars taste better on a Sunday afternoon. When the family comes over for game day, my favorite spot is out on the back deck while I'm able to take advantage of the new surround sound. Next to my classic lime mojito I have one of my favorite Cutter/Lighter magnetic Combos. They are always reliable to have.

I grabbed my personal favorite, Viage Mofongo. One of those sticks I save for times when I really want to settle in and enjoy myself. This one’s a medium-bodied smoke, and let me tell you, it’s got some character. I notice a bit of pepper when I first light up, but it quickly mellows out into something more earthy. As you settle into it, you’ll get these hints of leather and wood, which give it a nice, rich depth. There’s a bit of sweetness too, but nothing too overpowering—just enough to keep things interesting. And if you pay attention, you might pick up on some roasted nuts and spice in there.

The Hype

It was one of those afternoons where everything lined up—a great handmade cigar, a good drink, and my team making plays. Simple pleasures, you know? There’s nothing better. The smooth draw, the rich flavors, and that relaxing ambiance all come together to create an experience that’s nearly impossible to beat. So, in conclusion… Yeah, the hype is definitely warranted, because nothing beats that sense of relaxation that a good hand rolled Viaje brings.
