Nomad SA-17 Lancero is a slender 7 x 38 premium cigar featuring a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Created by Nomad Cigar Company founder Fred Rewey, the SA-17 Lancero was rolled at Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez in Nicaragua and became a regular-production addition to the SA-17 line in 2016.

The Lancero places greater emphasis on the Mexican San Andrés wrapper because of its narrow 38 ring gauge. The blend produces a medium-to-full profile with cocoa, dark chocolate, espresso, cedar, pepper, earth, and dried-fruit sweetness, providing a different balance than the thicker SA-17 vitolas.

What does Nomad SA-17 Lancero taste like?

Nomad SA-17 Lancero delivers a rich profile with cocoa, dark chocolate, espresso, cedar, pepper, earth, and dried-fruit sweetness. The narrow Lancero format places considerable emphasis on the Mexican San Andrés wrapper.

What size is Nomad SA-17 Lancero?

Nomad SA-17 Lancero measures 7 inches long with a 38 ring gauge. Its long, slender proportions distinguish it from the Robusto, Toro, Coronita, and Shorty sizes in the SA-17 line.

What wrapper does Nomad SA-17 Lancero use?

The SA-17 Lancero uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Nomad developed the SA-17 line specifically around the character of San Andrés wrapper tobacco.

Is Nomad SA-17 Lancero a Maduro cigar?

Nomad currently describes the SA-17 wrapper as San Andrés Maduro, while the original release specifications identified it more generally as San Andrés. Its dark appearance and cocoa and chocolate characteristics are consistent with the Maduro designation.

Is Nomad SA-17 Lancero a strong cigar?

Nomad SA-17 Lancero falls in the medium-to-full range. The Nicaraguan tobacco core provides strength and spice while the San Andrés wrapper contributes darker cocoa, coffee, and natural sweetness.

Where is Nomad SA-17 Lancero made?

The original Nomad SA-17 Lancero was rolled at Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez in Nicaragua. It was produced alongside the other SA-17 sizes before receiving wider distribution later in 2016.

Was the Nomad SA-17 Lancero originally a limited-release cigar?

Yes. The 7 x 38 Lancero was initially distributed quietly to a limited number of retailers. Nomad expanded distribution in August 2016 and made the Lancero available as a regular SA-17 vitola.

How does the SA-17 Lancero compare with the SA-17 Toro?

Both use the same Mexican San Andrés wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and filler blend, but their dimensions are very different. The Lancero measures 7 x 38 while the Toro measures 6 x 50. The Lancero's narrower ring gauge increases the proportion of wrapper tobacco relative to the filler.
